# Browser video capture

> Record walkthrough videos and step PNGs of a website with Playwright.

Record a browser walkthrough as WebM plus optional step PNGs:

```bash theme={null}
arka capture video https://example.com
arka capture video https://example.com --output demo-captures
arka capture video --walkthrough
arka capture video --help
python3 recordings/page-walkthrough/walkthrough.py
```

`--walkthrough` uses the Arka web dashboard preset (Chat → Skills → Status).
Set `ARKA_WALKTHROUGH_URL` to override the default dev URL (`http://127.0.0.1:5173`).

Custom step lists load from JSON:

```bash theme={null}
arka capture video https://example.com --actions steps.json
```

Each step is an object with a `type` field: `goto`, `click`, `wait`, `press`, or
`screenshot`. Use `--no-video` for PNG-only captures or `--no-screenshots` for
video-only output.

Install the browser runtime once:

```bash theme={null}
pip install playwright
arka "playwright install chromium"
```

Natural-language routing also works:

```bash theme={null}
arka route "record a walkthrough video of https://example.com"
arka route "capture walkthrough of the arka web dashboard"
```

**Note:** Arka MCP browser skills still return PNGs only. Use the CLI or
`recordings/page-walkthrough/walkthrough.py` when you need MP4/WebM artifacts.
