# Operation modes

> Arka कैसे व्यवहार करता है इसे नियंत्रित करें — agent, ask, plan, debug, और multitask modes।

Arka **operation modes** का समर्थन करता है जो routing verbosity, write permissions, और execution style बदलते हैं। Default **agent** है (debug बंद है)।

## Modes

| Mode | व्यवहार |
| - | - |
| `agent` | **Default** — पूरा skill execution, साफ़ output |
| `ask` | Read-only; जोखिम भरे कार्य blocked |
| `plan` | Structured steps प्रिंट होते हैं, execution नहीं |
| `debug` | Routing traces, LLM fallback, vLLM status दिखाता है |
| `multitask` | Parallel work के लिए background sub-agents |

## Modes switch करें

```bash theme={null}
arka mode debug
arka mode agent
arka mode list
```

या `~/.config/arka/.env` में सेट करें:

```env theme={null}
ARKA_MODE=agent
```

## Plan mode workflow उदाहरण

Deck export करने से पहले slide design work sketch करने के लिए plan mode उपयोग करें:

arka mode plan
arka "improve pitch slide design for kubernetes networking"
```

Arka `compose_slides` चलाए बिना एक structured plan (palettes, spacing, footers, metric callouts का audit) प्रिंट करता है। Execute करने के लिए वापस switch करें:

```bash theme={null}
arka mode agent
arka compose_slides compose --topic "kubernetes networking" --style pitch --theme dark -f pptx
```

या environment override के साथ one-shot:

```bash theme={null}
ARKA_MODE=plan arka "compose slides about kubernetes --style pitch"
```

## Debug mode क्या दिखाता है

केवल `debug` mode में:

* `arka_llm: fallback ok → groq/...`
* `→ Interpreted: ...` / `▶ Running skill: ...`
* vLLM / Ollama server startup messages
* Self-improve पूरा pytest output और goal-agent context

सामान्य mode गैर-developers के लिए output साफ़ रखता है।

## Route mode (अलग)

`ROUTE_MODE` नियंत्रित करता है कि **requests कैसे route होंगी**, execution style नहीं:

| Value | व्यवहार |
| - | - |
| `symbolic` | पहले offline rules, LLM fallback (अनुशंसित) |
| `ai_only` | पहले LLM routing |
| `symbolic_only` | routing के लिए LLM कभी call न करें |
